Bathroom/taps replacement

    Bathroom/taps replacement

    Dear all
    I know I asked before but I need to ask again. I live in Southfleet and I would like to know if anybody has ever replaced the bath tap at all.
    I have had no help from the Council in finding out where to turn off the water supply to the bath tap and had 2 different plumbers in and none of them could find the inside stop valve.
    If any of you leasholders can help it would be great.

    Hi Fabi, Do you know where the water stockcock is to the whole property? (rather than just focusing on the bath tap) Camden would be responsible for locating the former (because that’s where their responsibilities end), not the latter.

    I know there was talk of setting up a TRA in your neighbourhood, but don’t know what happened; it may be that other neighbours may also have some experience if you send them a comment via this (admittedly old) website to “connect” with them: https://stsilasnorth.wordpress.com/2014/11/30/first-agm-of-st-silas-north-tra/

    Other people may have more useful suggestions!

    p.s. I know my stop cock for the property is underneath the kitchen sink, but I somehow suspect that every block may have their stop cocks in different places.

    Some properties may not have stop cock. Here at Bridge house when I brought the property we had to pay for a plumber to come in and install one. Prior to that, the water supply had to be switched off from the tanks in the roof.

    In some blocks, there are stacks of bathrooms and kitchens one above the other and each stack has its own vertical supply. So, there may not be a single stopcock for the flat, and Camden’s repairs service will have either to turn the water off for you, or let yur plumber know how to do it. You say you have had no help from Camden, but not from which bit of the Council. You need repairs to sort out how to help you after two plumbers.

    thank you all for the replies.
    I did contact the Council in numerous occasions and even some of the guys form Right first time. The problem is that non of them has a clue of where the water supply can be switched off. I know where to with the one in the kitchen and the sink in the bathroom as well as the water to the toilet but for some reason nobody can find the stop to the water supply to the bathroom sink.

    The plumbers I got in both told me that even if the council did switch the water supply of the all block off off, which they can for a feee, it would not help as there would still be water in the pipes. coming from the other flats.

    It would be so much easier if somebody had the plans, drawings or something related to the building and could maybe shed a light to the mystery of where and how to switch the water off. I cannot believe the council does not have plans and is unwilling to help. If I did have a leak in the bathroom, hope not, somebody would have to act and fast to avoid flooding the flat underneath mine.

    Totally agree with you, Camden should have some plans in place, especially if you have a shared water supply. some properties have more then one supply so it’s not easy. The repairs team should be able to contact the contractors who carry out the water testing to the tank rooms. If they can turn your supply off (you will be charged) a good plumber can freeze your pipe and put in your own stop cock.
