Welcome to the latest news update from Camden Leaseholders’ Forum
At last week’s Pre-Trial hearing it was proposed that the Directions for the management charge LVT hearing would be released this week. Having spoken to Lauran Bush from Camden Council, the current schedule appears to be that they will be released on or before 3rd May.
This is what Peter Wright, chair of Camden Leaseholders’ Forum had to say on the matter.
“I am sorry if some of you feel frustrated that the case (and so our response) has seemed to move slowly, but I think we should all conserve energies for what will be a testing time. And, things are hotting up now; there will be more than enough to keep us all busy.
Camden Council received the draft directions late Wednesday evening. They have not been published yet because the Tribunal has asked Camden to consider re-framing their Statement of Case. I imagine Leaseholder Services, the Borough Solicitor and Counsel are busy discussing their response.”
We have asked Camden Council for more information on the supposed subsidy going from tenants to leaseholders, and the high-level management costs breakdown which the last Forum meeting was told are available now from Camden Council. Camden Council has said that releasing this information early may conflict with the LVT’s Directions. We have now written to the LVT seeking permission for this disclosure as soon as we see the Directions.
This should give us extra time to begin examining the figures, to ask why Camden Council pays so much and cannot live within 10% management charge like so many other organisations. As and when we get this information we will publicise it on our website. It will also go to Camden’s five District Management Committees (which represent tenants as well as leaseholders), so that tenants can also see the high costs which they too are paying through their rents.
That’s it for now…
