A gas leak was reported at Seymour House, Churchway, almost two weeks ago. The gas was turned off to all three buildings. Since then nothing has been done.
I have contacted the gas supplier, Cadent, for updates and each time I have been told that they are waiting to hear back from their Design Team with regards to the scaffolding, pipework and laboratory tests. Cadent have supplied each household with one fan heater and one single hob as standard; those people who are dependent on gas for their hot water are without any hot water.
I have written to Keir Starmer about the situation but have not received any reply. Camden council advised me to contact Cadent.
I understand that gas leaks occur and they are always inconvenient for the people concerned, however I feel the gas supplier must address the fault immediately and ensure that the gas supply is returned within days as a matter of priority
I would be grateful for any ideas about how to apply pressure to ensure that the work starts and is completed within a reasonable time.

Just some quick ideas but your local Councillor may be able to help. Also Citizens Advice Bureau will be able to let you know the legal position over what’s required.

Thanks, Paul! Your quick reply is much appreciated. Unfortunately the Citizens’ Advice Bureau are unable to help in this matter. I’ll see if Roger Robinson, the councillor, can help.

We have now been 18 days without hot water or heating. I got in touch with Camden yesterday who are basically washing their hands off this situation. As far as they are concerned, they have done all they can and given the necessary approvals to get the works started. I then phoned Cadent early afternoon, they are waiting on the contractor to come back with a start date. They then said it will probably start on Monday, but in the evening one of my neighbour who just got off the phone from Cadent was told another 2 to 4 weeks. We are being given different stories and they dates are changing by the minute. We are left with no communication from anyone and we have to constantly phone them for update. I am seriously thinking contacting the media (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-41920264)… Maybe we will get someone taking this seriously!
