Recommendations? Appointing an Independent Surveyor to Oversee Council Works

Hi,

I live in a block with an active leaseholders association. We’re considering appointing an independent surveyor to oversee forthcoming ‘Spring Clean’ – a programme of external works to smarten up the block and ammounting to a couple of million pounds.

We experienced overcharging for poor quality work in our last programme of work. This was agreed by a leaseholders tribunal who refunded much of the costs.

Does anyone have experience of appointing a surveyor to check costings/quality of work? Any recommendations?
