Hi there, we have a long lease flat within a Council owned terrace house. The front facade is in bad shape – the paint is chipping off, as is some of the render. There are some decorative extruding bits which look like they could fall on the front garden. As this is the exterior wall, it is clearly the Council’s responsibility. We have contacted the Council to ask if they can repair this, but not heard back. Given our past experience with works undertaken by the Council, they seem to get terribly over charged, and we will then have to pay most of that. We suspect it would be cheaper and easier just to get the work done ourselves. I can’t see that the Council would even notice this, or be likely to take any action against us. Has anyone else done this? Thanks! Kate
