Hi! We have just received a whopping Major Works Service Charge for ££20,300 for scaffolding, roof works etc.
I have been reading the forum for others who have received large bills and came across a link to
      https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/social-landlords-reduction-of-service-charges-mandatory-and-discretionary-directions-2014
which seems to say that no bill in any five year period can exceed the sum of £15,000. Does anyone know if this is correct, and if it is then possible to query this bill with Camden? Many thanks.

        Hi,

As far as I read there isn’t any cap on these, nothing is central government funded anymore, we might see more of these huge bills every few years. We should challenge the necessity of works and reasonability of charges, also personal I feel Camden should be held responsible for Neglect as we pay for “preventative maintenance” on service charge (which doesn’t seams to be deliver hence mayor woks).

This article could be a good start: https://www.leaseholdersforum.org.uk/guides/heating-options#Examples

        Thanks
